How Beautiful You Are

“Seems to Me We’ll Stop to See How Beautiful You Are

Tonight, sleep tight, tomorrow comes
So easily for you.
You’ll go to school to learn the rule
That you are, oh, so bright….

Little light, Little light
Shining here for all to see.
School is just a place to find
Your garden or your sea.

As you go, your Dad will know
How quickly you have grown,
He can see the mystery
That shines from in your mind.

Momma knows her darling goes
Out to the world to learn.
She sees your face, a peaceful place
She’ll wait for you at home.

Don’t be shy, it’s time to try
To find your way to friends
Your teacher knows that she’s supposed
To see your inner beams.

Go to school and learn the rules
Never to forget….
That you’re the one, the lovely one
How beautiful you are.

poem by Sarah Puglisi for a friend’s child she loves and a class she loves

This is a blog about Mrs. Puglisi’s room 5 FIRST grade in Oxnard, CA. We are a part of the Hueneme School District.

Our school is Hathaway.

Mrs. Puglisi has been learning how to use blogging and technology to teach in new and better ways for children going out into a world transformed by global technology. It would be great if this was supported because we have three 14 year old machines, a bit newer Dell and frankly there is not much of a platform to work from, in a 5th year underperforming school most of the day has been focused on pretty limiting skill based issues. So this kind of opportunity is being delayed, but we got document cameras to “deliver lessons.” It is a very fancy overhead!

This is a FIRST STEP. Come read about our days, comment, share class life.

Our site is very rich and full of lots of fun.

Let’s see we have a Pink Aquarium full of fish, another plainer aquarium with fish babies now grown, hermit crabs and assorted visitors, and we are a school of children. We like all the things that you like, dancing, singing, reading, math, science, painting, clouds, rainbows, movies, hula hoops and we get better everyday.

And we are tested and assessed constantly!

  • Your blog is brilliant :) I will add you to my blogroll… if you dont mind… I have been blogging for 4 years but just opened an account on wordpress. I have 2 children with learning disabilities. I will greatly enjoy following your blog. I truly admire teachers simply because I have been blessed to get the best ones, which have transformed my son’s lives, and mine.
